WE HAVE THE VICTORY!

Growing up in an Afro-Caribbean church there was a song that we sang OFTEN and it went like this:
In the name of Jesus (2x)
We have the victory!
In the name of Jesus (2x)
Satan will have to flee!
Tell me who can stand before Him
When we call on that great name
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus
WE HAVE THE VICTORY!
Many of us know it and have sung it repeatedly and when we sing this, it encourages us to know that, in Jesus, we are victorious.
But the question is do we really believe that we have the victory? It's one thing to sing a song in church and another thing to believe deep down in your heart that what you are singing is the God given, unadulterated truth. It's a completely different story, too, to stand on that truth when you are in the middle of a storm or a battle and it feels like you're losing. Do you believe you have the victory then? Do the lyrics of the song mean anything to you when you are fighting for your life or the life of a loved one and things seem to be getting worse? Psalms 118:14 says, "The Lord is my strength and my song; He has given me victory" (NLT). Given! We already have it! But when storms of life hit, we quickly forget that part! Romans 8:37 reminds us that we have OVERWHELMING victory through Christ. Many of us never see it come to fruition because we lack the faith for it. If we pray today and change doesn't happen tomorrow or next week, we start giving in to every lie the enemy throws our way, surrender and ultimately loss. God help us to believe and hold on to the truth of His Word! Victory is ours but we have to believe for it regardless of what things look like.
In the movie 'Pearl Harbor', Alec Baldwin plays Colonel Doolittle who organizes the 'Doolittle Raid' after the Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor on December 7,1941. It was an act of retaliation and while it didn't make the impact that Pearl Harbor made, it proved to America that there was hope to win the war. Watch this ten second clip of what he says about who obtains victory in the end: https://youtu.be/1oUx-FTBCB8. Now, this isn't scripture but what a profound truth!
So, to the reader of this blog, whatever you're facing today, you better stand and fight! I keep hearing in my spirit that it's a season of warfare! If you want to see God's already promised victory in your life, you have to believe for it and KEEP believing! Don't lose hope and don't lose heart! Take God at His word! Trust Him to undergird and strengthen you for what lies ahead and to fulfill every promise that's in His word! CHOOSE to believe despite what your eyes are seeing, what your ears are hearing, what your nose is smelling and what you are feeling! And you will be able to do what Psalm 91:13 says: I will trample upon lions and cobras; I will crush fierce lions and serpents under my feet! YOU HAVE THE VICTORY!
