IT'S TIME TO ACT!

We all know the account of the Israelites in Egypt. It all started with the sale of a young man named Joseph. His own brothers, motivated by jealousy, committed the dastardly deed and sold him into slavery. Despite setbacks and hardships, Joseph finds favor with the officials in Egypt and rises to power. In time he sends for his entire family to come to Egypt to escape a famine. Through those 70 individuals the Israelites multiplied and began filling the land of Egypt.

This overpopulation however does not please a new Pharoah that rises to the throne. He sees the nation of Israel as a real threat and decides to first try to annihilate them and then ultimately subjugate them. The people of Israel are forced into slavery and mandated to daily hard labor. Despite that, they continue to multiply. But in their torment and misery, they begin crying out to the Living God. Day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, century after century! Many were born and died in slavery. Biblical scholars place their enslavement anywhere between 200 and 430 years.

But God was never deaf to their cries. Their groanings ascended to Heaven and reached Yahweh's ears. Exodus 2:24-25 read, God HEARD their groanings, and He remembered His covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He looked down on the people of Israel AND KNEW IT WAS TIME TO ACT!" (NLT). I imagine all of Heaven's angels mobilizing, getting in place and positioning to move on behalf of the Israelite people. Of course, they didn't know it, nor could they see it, but our decisive and strategic God was about to make His move. He waited just the right amount of time to step on the scene and mete out justice and deliverance to a people that were, no doubt, exasperated, exhausted, desperate and on the brink of hopelessness.

Reader, today you may feel in such a position...just like the nation of Israel. Perhaps there is something, some situation, that you have been waiting YEARS for God's intervention. You might feel like your cries, your pleas, your prayers have fallen on deaf years! You've been in this too long! Does God hear? Will He ever answer? Well, let this blog remind and assure you that He does hear and He will answer! Let it remind and assure you that He will dispatch His warring angels to fight on your behalf and bring change, real change to your situation. Hold on a little while longer! And keep holding on because, even now, God is declaring over you that "IT'S TIME TO ACT"!
