WEARY FAITH

Do you ever feel tired? I mean, really, really tired! Tired of the struggle, the “brain wrestling”, the juggling, the waiting for answered prayers, and so on?  In moments of deep exhaustion, it is easy to feel as though the journey is just too long, and the obstacles are too great. We often try to navigate these trials and difficult seasons through our own strength, but fall weary under the weight of spiritual, physical, and emotional attacks…but there is purpose in the "long" way that God sometimes leads us through.

Just as He led Israel through the desert to teach them trust, He uses challenging times to revitalize our faith and make us strong for the lessons ahead. When we reach the end of our own power, we are invited to fall at His feet and surrender our burdens to the One who never leaves nor forsakes us. "I will never leave you nor forsake you" declares Hebrews 13:5.

Holding on requires a shift in focus from earthly struggles to the upward focus of God: "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, From whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth."  Psalm 121:1-2. We are encouraged to set our minds on things above, seeking the strength to press on toward the goal of our faith.

Philippians 3:14 teaches us that this perseverance is fueled by the realization that our life and all that life brings is in His hands. Even when we cannot see the outcome, faith remains the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. By recognizing and acknowledging God as preeminent and giving Him first place in our thoughts and choices, we allow Him to lead and protect us through the wilderness.

True endurance is found in the peace that only the Father can provide. Inner rest does not come from external circumstances or human effort but from placing God on the throne of our lives. When we experience this divine peace, it not only sustains us but also spreads to influence our families and communities.  “Weary” faith is enough faith to get us through the wilderness!
